Commemorative Air Force Tour

Aircraft attending: B-29 Superfortress FIFI; C-45 “Bucket of Bolts;” T-6 WASP Original; Stearman; P-51 “Gunfighter.” The aircraft will arrive Monday (Aug 5) around noon. The ramp will open to the public Wednesday (Aug 7) through Sunday (Aug 11) from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. The small aircraft will be available for walk-up rides the entire time they are open. FIFI will only fly Saturday (Aug 10) and Sunday (Aug11) mornings. The balance of the time FIFI will be static for cockpit tours. The tour aircraft would depart on Monday (Aug 12). Access to the gate will be $15 for adults and $8 for ages 5 to 17. This price will include free admission to the Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation (2600 Expedition Court). The 14th Annual Glendo, WY, Fly-In and Camp Out is a grass roots fly-in held on a well maintained grass airstrip next to Glendo Reservoir and State Park. This event is the largest grass roots fly-in in Wyoming with fly-in events and more than 40 aircraft attending from Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska and as far away as Arizona. There is a Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, a BBQ Saturday night with gathering and music, then a BBQ on Sunday to end the event. Contact Tom Jones at 307-253-9462.

  • Mason City (MCW), IA, Them People at the Airport Café.
  • Paulina (1Y9), IA:  Mill Creek Concession located at Mill Creek Park adjacent to airport.  Open Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend. 

Minnesota

  • Litchfield (LJF), MN: Peter's on Lake Ripley – use courtesy car at the airport for the short (about 1.5 miles) drive to Peter’s on Lake Ripley  (http://www.petersribs.com/)
  • Closed Ortonville (VVV), MN, Matado Supper Club located across from turf strip runway (open Sunday evenings).

Nebraska

  • Norfolk (OFK), NE: Barnstormers Family Bar & Grill (402-316-4099) located in old airport terminal. Park on ramp in front of restaurant. (4100 South 13th Street, Norfolk, NE 68701) REOPENED ON APRIL 15, 2017 (check them out on Facebook)
  • York (JYR), NE, Chances “R” Restaurant (402-362-7755); use city’s courtesy car at airport – easy to find restaurant (2.5 miles).
